COVID-19 Vaccine Scams: Where To Actually Get the Vaccine

The City of Chicago and Chicago Department of Public Health are warning residents about COVID-19 vaccine scams. If you or someone you know gets calls, texts, or emails offering early access to a COVID-19 vaccine, it is NOT legitimate, it is a scam, and you should not respond. Seniors need to exercise extreme caution, as they have been the most heavily targeted group by vaccine scammers.

For those reasons, please use the below information to safely and legitimately register for your COVID-19 vaccination. We strongly encourage you to share this information with a senior in your life.

Please read below for accurate information on how you can register to obtain a legitimate COVID-19 vaccination:

You can register to receive the COVID-19 Vaccine at the following locations by clicking the links here:

  1. Vaccinations are now available at Hy-Vee, Jewel-Osco, Kroger, Mariano’s, Meijer, Walgreens, and Walmart pharmacies in Illinois. Click on the links to register.

Walgreens: While their “800” number is not fully active (should be by end of next week), seniors can call the stores and they will be routed to our call center to make an appointment — if vaccine is available at that store or in area stores.

Cook County Health Department - The distribution of COVID-19 vaccinations in Cook County will be done in a phased approach as vaccine supply is available and using guidance from local, state and national public health authorities.   2. DuPage County Health Department - Signing up here allows the county to contact you with specific information when appointments or clinics are available. Please note: you will not be able to schedule an appointment until the time is right! Assistance for seniors and others without internet:

  1. Hanover Township - The Township is happy to provide support to any senior who needs help registering for the vaccine over the phone or virtually. Our Social Services staff has already been helping people and are more than happy to assist others. If additional services are needed for non-Township residents, we may refer them to a more appropriate agency depending on the circumstance. The staff can be reached at 630-483-5660.

  2. Wayne Township - Our senior center has 2 computers available with internet access. Any senior who has called us, we have told them that they are able to use our computers….or we have also offered to do it for them over the phone. Wayne Township Senior Center phone number is 630-231-7155.

  3. Bloomingdale Township - No services- referring individuals to DuPage County Senior Services Left a message with Senior Services to confirm. Senior Services 630-529-7794: Spoke with Jake who stated they are developing a waiting list for vaccines. DuPage County offers registration for the Covid Vaccine online. However, the Bloomingdale Township Senior Center has initiated a Waiting List for those wanting the vaccine (Call: 630-529-7794). Provide the: name, age, phone number, and town of the interested party, and the Senior Center will include them to the waiting list. The Senior Center has not received vaccines but are preparing a list for if-and-when they do."

  4. Schaumburg Township - No special services for seniors at this time. Call 847-884-0030 to inquire directly.
