The Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) of North and Northwest Cook County is an outstanding organization that provides essential services to at-risk youth and victims of crime in our Village. Over the past several years I have supported the 5K Walk/Run which is typically held at the CAC on Illinois Blvd. in June.

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, this has hampered the CAC’s plans for 2020. The need for support is even more critical as families and children who would normally be referred, are isolated at home. CAC NEEDS to be at the ready when these families call.

The CAC is the leading resource to empower and heal abused children and prevent violence against children. They serve 38 communities in the Cook County area and see over 800 children and their families each year. All services are FREE OF CHARGE.

This year the CAC is hosting its first ever VIRTUAL race! You can walk or run in your own neighborhood or on your treadmill from the comfort of home!

Here is a link to a fundraising page that my colleague, Mayor Bill McCleod of Hoffman Estates, has set up. Please join us in the fight, walk or run virtually, and help our tiniest voices be heard!

The Illinois Legislative Latino Caucus Foundation (ILLCF) launched the “COVID 19 Solidarity Fund” that will secure donations from corporations, foundations, and individuals to provide cash assistance to families to meet basic needs. The ILLCF has partnered with the Immigration Funders Collaborative (IFC) at the Chicago Community Trust (CCT) to manage the grantmaking process.
